Essentials | Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro Review

Smartphone manufacturers are leveling up their game nowadays in focusing on achieving a dslr like quality photos and ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, which was released last August 2017, is one of the best smart phone for your selfie needs.

Design

The material is made from metal and glass and weighs about 145 grams. The slim and the metal finish design feels like i am using an iphone 6. Lock and volume keys are located on the upper right edge of the phone while the sim tray is on the other side. This phone have dual sim capability and uses a nano-sim for its main simcard slot. It also comes with an amazing 5.5-inch (1080×1920) full HD display and give a great and clear readability. The design is consistent and looks closely the same compare to the past Zenfone models. The usual android ports and speaker audio are located at the bottom of the phone including the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Camera

The dual front camera is the the highlight of this new smartphone from Asus. It has a
2x light sensitivity for low light photos ,a 24 megapixels DuoPixel™ camera technology and for the selfie lovers, who always wanted to look their best on their photos , it comes with the ASUS SelfieMaster technology for smart beautification in selfies, videos, and livestreams.

One good thing about this selfie camera is , it has a portrait mode that allows you to take selfies/wefies and blur the background , the bokeh effect ( What you say , Iphone 7+?) .

Front camera portrait mode

Aside from being selfie eccentric , the rear camera of this phone is also an upside when you're planning to purchase this gadget. The rear camera comes with a 16 megapixels Sony image sensor and offers various camera modes .

PixelMaster 4.0 camera modes:
  • Auto mode with low light and HDR Pro features
  • Beauty
  • Portrait
  • Pro mode for 32 seconds long exposure
  • Super Resolution for 64 megapixels photos
  • GIF Animation
  • Panorama
  • Slow Motion
  • Time Lapse
  • 9 various filters

Performance

I tried using this phone to play a random racing game. My verdict? The experience is pretty amazing for a budget smartphone. I am not only a blogger but also a gamer , a geek they say. With that, I am so particular with the performance , video quality , ram usage and gaming experience of a certain gadget , and this phone didn't fail me. The CSR game that i tried playing , which is also a highly ram intensive smartphone game had a very smooth run with this Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro. The power of its 4gb ram is very noticeable compare to some other android phones that are somewhat laggy and have delays.

UI and OS

It is running with a pre-installed Android™ 7 with new ASUS ZenUI 4.0. I like the interface of Asus ZenUI for the reason that the icons associated with it are all plain and simple and cute.

Other Technical Specifications

  • Battery Life - The 3,000mAh battery life of this smartphone can last mote than a day , with regular cellular data usage , music/video playing and average gaming.
  • CPU -  It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor
  • Sensor - front fingerprint sensor, Accelerator, E-Compass, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, RGB sensor (front)
  • Storage - 64gb internal storage upgradable up to 2TB external storage

Conclusion

As a travel blogger , I would really consider this phone since i post too much photos of myself in instagram , instagram stories , in my blog and other social media accounts and the selfie game of this phone is an upside. For its retail price at around P 18,999.00 , is beyond my expectation.

What I don't like about it?

I get a lag when i switch apps especially when I don't close previous apps that I opened.
