Who would have thought that the beauty of Mt. Pinatubo
crater lake was created by its ill-fated past. Located three hours drive from
Manila to Tarlac , you can witness the majestic view of this wonder after a 45
mins off-road ride from drop-off point and a 2 hours rocky trek into the
crater.
•
You need less than Php 2000 to start your Mt Pinatubo
trip and consumes only a day. So no worries for all the weekend warrior out
there!
•
Always remember to pack light and check the weather
forecast.
•
The rock formations along the way will make you feel
that you're in a different place. ( I even thought that i wasn't in the
Philippines )
•
The trek is good for first timers. Easy but long trek.
Watch out for slippery rocks , you won't like it when you get wet!
•
The 4x4 ride is one of the most exciting activity of
the trip. Bumpy , ashy , fun and all sort of adventurous is what the 4x4 ride
is all about.
•
There are rumors that the color of the water in the
lake is changing ( it depends on what month it is ). So never miss every
opportunity to visit the lake!
•
Seeing such a nice view after
a long tiring trek under the scorching heat of the sun is really worth the
SWEAT and EFFORT, not to mention the very expensive refreshment that locals
sell along the way. ( Water , gatorade , beers = around 100-150 each )
•
Remember to prepare yourself for a dry sunny trek so
it is better to put sunblock for protection.
Here are some breakdown of expenses if you're planning
a DIY trip. Well for us , we joined a mountaineering group and paid 1800 that
cover all the expenses for a Mt. Pinatubo day tour except for lunch.
